Comments:

We took one of the Wildflower Center's Moonlight Tours of the gardens--this included the woodland trail and the arboretum (which I think is the same as the restoration/research trail also documented on this site).

The arboretum showed up best by full moon, with the prairie looking bright and silvery in the moonlight, and the trees as moody sporadic silhouettes.

Overall, there were rather fewer night-specific features than I had hoped, though it was a pleasant change to experience the center when it's mostly empty and not so hot.

The entire tour was a little less than 3 miles.

For two decades and counting, Texans have relied on Texas Wildflowers to identify the common and rare flowers we see along the roadsides and in the pastures, fields, and forests of our state. Compiled by naturalists Campbell and Lynn Loughmiller, with the technical assistance of Lynn Sherrod, Texas Wildflowers is an authoritative field guide with a personal touch in the many notes the Loughmillers included about the plants they described and photographed.
