Well, we wanted a memorable cache to be our 500th find, and this one certainly fit the bill! The hike to the cache was much more rugged than we expected, and the natural feature at the site was something we had no idea existed in Travis County!
We came from the north, and the first trail we took ended up going into the water, but we backtracked and found another way. When we finally got there, two guys were there with two dogs, and the dogs kept running around so much they made us nervous to be out on the bridge!
Then one of the guys actually jumped off the bridge into the water below! We're happy to report that he survived!
Unfortunately the cache itself is not surviving too well. When we arrived it was sitting out in the open on the ledge above the bridge, with no lid and nothing inside but the log book. Looks like lots of non-cachers have signed the log, and some of the entries are not what you would call family friendly.
I finally spotted what I think is the lid near a hole underneath the ledge, but it is all broken up. I placed the container and the log in that hole, as I am guessing that is where it was originally hidden.
Although it was a rough hike, we enjoyed it, and the bridge and view were fantastic! Thanks for bringing us to a spot that we had no idea existed, and probably would never have found on our own!
