Who knew there were so many types? John McKinney has a blog post in which he defines the many types of trails one might come across. Many are familiar even if some are vaguely so. The term "Greenway" trail is one I've never heard before. Is that more of a regional thing? In Texas the term "Greenbelt" when referring to long, narrow parks (often with a trail along its length) is in common use. I did not see a type referred to as "tangled mess" - the chaotic jumble of trails in all directions that often result from too many "Wildcat" paths trampled by visitors who won't stay on trail. |
